About the Event
In this 2-hour introductory class, we will go over some important basics to help demystify pregnancy, birth, and maternity care options in the Bay Area. This is a great starting point for anyone considering pregnancy in the near or distant future, folks unexpectedly navigating pregnancy with a loved one, or existing parents who want to approach their next pregnancy differently. This is also a great primer for anyone interested in birthwork or doulas, and curious about the current options available to reproducing families in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley and the wider SF Bay Area. Included in the discussion:
-Optimizing health for pregnancy and birth
-Care providers and locations for birth
-Common myths, fears and misunderstandings
-Basic (yet amazing) physiology of birth
-Historical and cultural context for birth in the US
